We are Raising the Roof!

Updated: Aug 8, 2019

THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

Over the past month, we have witnessed God doing amazing things in Belize. Steadily, precious saints that had become discouraged, despondent and disengaged, are being refreshed in the house of the Lord; backsliders praying back through; new lives being touched by the power of the Holy Ghost. We have been having POWERFUL church. We are so thankful!

Sunday School

Every Sunday morning, we are running the bus for Sunday School, in Guinea Grass Village. We are seeing attendance rise weekly, and are thrilled with the participation. Here's a little glimpse into what goes on at Sunday School in Belize...

Sunday school in Guinea Grass!

Trip to Punta Gorda

On July 19, we made a trip to Punta Gorda, in the Toledo District of Belize, to have a Friday night service with the Pastor and congregation there. What a special time was had by all. Great things are happening there, under the leadership of Pastor Chun and family, with new doors of ministry swinging open. Please join us in prayer about this.

Because of your generosity, we have paid off our mortgage at Belize Bank!

When we assumed the oversight of the Apostolic Pentecostal Church of Belize, it was $58,000 in debt. We have been able to pay off $28,600! THANK YOU! The remaining debt ($29,400) is being held interest free as we service it.

We are Raising the Roof

While much emphasis has been placed on the spiritual needs of the APC of Belize (and we are THRILLED with the progress), we have not abandoned the tireless efforts of addressing the natural as well. When we arrived, we were aware that ALL of the buildings (& vehicles) on the headquarters campus were in need of maintenance. Sadly, we just didn’t realize “how dire” the need.

Pastor DC McKillop, and his family, have occupied one portion of the compound while focusing their attention on cleaning, painting and maintaining the remainder of the living quarters. What we thought should be a few days has morphed into a major project. After noticing a dank smell in their rooms, they inspected the roof above the living quarters. Due to the eaves of the building not being closed in properly, the ceiling and walls are FULL of pigeons, bats and all things unseemly that accompany them. 😳 This has proven to be consistent throughout all of the buildings on the compound.

Presently, we are removing all interior ceiling and walls in the dorms, as well as the ceiling(s) over rooms in the living quarters. We are not sure how extensive this problem will be in the remainder of the house. We will discover this as we go along.

Additionally, upon one of the first walk-throughs of the church sanctuary and office area, we counted 51 ceiling tiles that were stained and moldy. Well, there’s a reason for that. The roof is leaking, quite literally, like a sieve. After extensive inspection, only one solution remains — install a new roof over the entire sanctuary.

Here’s a Little Good News!

We have a group of over 30 carpenters, laborers and cooks who have volunteered to come to Belize, August 27 — September 2, 2019. We will be tackling these projects. We are SO grateful that they are going to help us raise the roof... literally.

While they are here, we will be tackling the following projects:

  1. Install a new roof over the sanctuary and office.

  2. Finish tear-out and replacement of drywall, insulation and metal in dorms and living quarters.

  3. Close in the eaves properly on all the buildings, to prevent rodent infestation and mildew from reoccurring in the future.

  4. General maintenance, painting and upkeep on all properties.

We estimate this overall project to be $24,000.00 USD. Before word has been officially sent out, support has been coming in for this project. We are on our way to raising the roof in Belize!

  • $5,000 donated from Pastor Wade Townley (First Pentecostal Church of Brewer, Me.)

  • $5,000 donated from Pastor Kevin Archer (Landmark Apostolic Church, Cooper City, Fl.)

  • $2,000 donated from Pastor Wayne Lawhorn (Bible Truth Tabernacle of Bedford, Va)

  • $3,500 donated from a private donor.

We understand that Belize is not the “only” need that exists in the Kingdom of God. So many exciting things are happening around the world that require precious resources to accomplish. As you prayerfully consider these need, please know that any support you give will be greatly appreciated, and 100% invested.

We will keep the website www.belizemissions.com updated, as funds for this project come in. Thank you for believing in the work of God in Belize.

It makes me so happy to hear such a good report. My wife and I spent a school year there at Guinea Grass and to see the faces of many we remember coming back to the Lord is a great blessing. They are such a beautiful people, my heart is full.
